Klassische Kaskoversicherungen decken explizit versicherte Gefahren ab. Die sog. All-Gefahren-Deckung geht über eine Vollkaskoversicherung deutlich hinaus und deckt grundsätzlich alle Gefahren ab, denen ein Fahrzeug ausgesetzt sein kann mit Ausnahme derjenigen, die ausdrücklich ausgeschlossen sind. Umgekehrt ausgedrückt: Alles, was nicht ausdrücklich über die zugrunde liegenden Versicherungsbedingungen ausgeschlossen wird, gilt als versichert.
Die wenigen Ausschlüsse, z. B. Schäden durch Krieg oder Kernenergie, Schäden durch Teilnahme an Wettrennen (Stichwort Rennklausel) oder Schäden durch Rost, Oxidation, natürliche Abnutzung, Verschleiß, u. ä., sind verständlich und als Risiko sicherlich kalkulierbar. Einige Versicherer schließen auch auch Schäden durch Überhitzung bzw. mangelnde Kühlung im Fahrbetrieb, sog. innere Betriebsschäden oder Fehlbedienung aus.
Wir empfehlen gerade im Bereich der Oldtimer-Versicherung und auch von Versicherungen hochwertiger Youngtimer (Daily Driver oder Sammlerfahrzeuge) stets den Abschluss einer All-Gefahren-Deckung. Diese ist oft nur mit geringen Prämienaufschlägen verbunden und erleichtert die Schadenabwicklung im Schadensfall deutlich, denn die All-Gefahren-Deckung führt zu einer Beweislastumkehr dergestalt, dass die Versicherungsgesellschaft grundsätzlich alle Schäden zu regulieren hat, sofern diese nicht nachweist, dass gerade der angezeigte Schaden wegen eines vereinbarten Risikoausschlusses nicht versichert ist.
